Position: Yacht Commissioning Agent – The Moorings, Sunsail and Leopard Catamarans

Role Overview:
The Yacht Commissioning Agent will interact with all yachts presented in France by the contracted factories
Robertson and Caine, (R&C) and Dufour to THL Marine, incorporating The Moorings, Sunsail and Leopard
Catamarans. The Yachts Commissioning Agent is to liaise with the Logistics Manager and the ships Load Master
for all yachts unloading from Cape Town. The Yacht Commissioning Agent is then fully responsible for the safety
and storage of the yachts, pre, during and after the commissioning of the yachts before the onward delivery to
either the Leopard sales location or the chartering base.
The Yacht Commissioning Agent is also responsible for the receipt of yachts from the French based monohull
builder (Dufour) ensuring that all the yachts equipment is verified against each purchase order. Post receipt the
Yacht Commissioning Agent is responsible for the hand over to the trucking company for Mediterranean
operations and is responsible for the required commissioning pre shipping to the Caribbean, working with
contractors and in-house team members to ensure deadlines are adhered to. Good digital documentation of all
aspects of this process is required. This is a hands-on role and will require some irregular hours of operation.
Responsibilities:
Completion of systems checks and preparation on departing vessels (Sea Freight or Own hull Sea Delivery)
Catamarans;
• Responsible for temporary storage of yachts post shipping
• Securing and readjusting yachts pertaining to weather systems
• Secure access to the yachts
• Complete a comprehensive check of all yacht systems
• Review all mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations
• Ensuring yachts battery systems remain charged and the yachts are clean of debris
• Ensure the Load safety gear (in line with the COO) and charter inventory is aboard prior to shipping
• Inspects and reviews yachts whilst in Port St Louis and works with the Yachts Technical Agents resolving
warranty issue pre departure using the warranty claim process
• Photograph any shortfalls or failures and document accordingly digitally through company’s systems pre
departure
• Ensure the yachts are appropriately surface prepared and clean, with all systems operational prior to on
water delivery
Monohulls;
• Ensure the yachts are thoroughly checked against the purchase order
• Ensure all equipment is with the yacht and operational at hand over from the factory, all items are to be
stowed in consistent locations aboard and digitally documented
• Review the digital records of all serial numbers , verify accuracy
• Work with sub-contractors to ensure the yachts are appropriately rigged, cleaned and protected
• Ensure the Load safety gear and charter inventory is aboard prior to shipping Utilizing the company’s
digital systems Sailsense and Trello note any defects still requiring attention at the time of trucking or
shipping.
• Participates in the loading of the vessels and reports digitally on any damages whilst loading or strapping
working with the USA based logistics manager, contractors, load masters and ships agents.
• Always maintain relationships with and liaise with relevant licensing authorities to ensure compliance
• Ensure all health and safety standards are adhered to without exception, and any issues raised with line
management immediately.
• Complete all risk assessments on time and in full
• Ability to utilize computer software programs such as Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook, and data systems
• Ensure a friendly and helpful attitude is maintained among the team and other departments and ensures
the same is provided to all customers and business partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 5 + years’ experience professional work on yachts.
• RYA Yacht master Offshore or equivalent
• Valid driver license
• Microsoft word and Xcel literate
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
• Good attention to detail
• Mechanical, Electrical and boat building experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Marine Surveyors diploma
• Technical Diploma
